I came across this book while browsing one day and like most was pulled in by the cover. Just take a moment to look at it, it's gorgeous! And I was elated to find it was about parallel dimensions after reading the blurb. I'm a sucker for an alternate dimension.
The book jumps right into the action, something I really loved. There are a lot of books that start out too slow, with too much set up that's rather unnecessary. A Thousand Pieces of You does not do that, and explains things well along the way. I found it incredibly hard to put this book down as each chapter just pulled me in more and more.
The one issue that I found was there was a heavy romance that I wasn't expecting. There were a few chapters between Marguerite and Paul that sort of dragged on and didn't really help move the story along (for me anyway)--they're there solely for the romance which I wasn't a huge fan of. Marguerite ends up torn between the same man in two different universes, and the way she rationalizes it made me think a little less of her. However despite that disappointment I am looking forward to seeing how it gets resolved in the next books.
The story was captivating, and I can't wait until book two is out! November is a long wait.
